Stroke Care at Pickerington Methodist Hospital

A stroke is a medical emergency

That’s why it’s important to learn and teach the signs.

Remember the term, BE FAST, for stroke signs.

B = loss of balance or coordination
E = trouble seeing out of one or both eyes
F = facial weakness
A = arm weakness
S = speech difficulty
T = time to call 911

If you or someone you know is having signs of a stroke, call 911 immediately.

Every minute counts

Early treatment with medications like tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) or tenecteplase (TNK) can minimize brain damage in stroke patients. Other treatments focus on limiting complications and preventing additional strokes.

  • During a stroke, patients can lose approximately 1.9 million brain cells every minute.1
  • Every 15-minute delay can significantly reduce the chances of recovery.
